 Rules & Strategies - Baccarat

Note: rules vary from casino to casino. Check with your casino for their rules.

The Game

The object of Baccarat is to predict which hand will get a Point value closest to 9, keeping in mind that all face cards and ten-value cards count as zero, aces count as one, while all other cards keep their values.

How to Play

To play, place your bet on the banker's hand, on the player's hand, or on a tie (or any combination of the three or all three possibilities). After the bet, click Deal, the player and the banker are then dealt a two-card hand each. A third card may be dealt to the player and/or the banker. Your goal is to predict which hand (banker's or player's) will come closest to a Point value of 9, the hand that comes closest to 9 wins. You may also choose to place your bet on a tie, when both hands have equal Point values. If the hand results in a tie, the bet is returned. All winning bets for the banker or the player pay even money. However, if you win by betting on the banker, the bank receives 5% commission. If you correctly bet on a tie, your payoff is 8-to -1.

Card Values

Ace = one point
Face cards and tens = zero points
All other cards carry the point value shown on the card.

If the cards in a hand total more than ten points, subtract ten; the remainder is the point value of the hand. For example: 8+8=16, which counts as 6; and 8+9=17, which counts as 7.
